Actor, author and cabaret icon Alan Cumming will return to Australia this June with a new stage show.

The Scottish/American talent will perform his Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age show in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Perth after it makes its world premiere at Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Described as a “joyful, mischievous cabaret production”, the performances of Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age in Australia this year will mark Cumming’s first visit to the country since 2017’s sold-out run.

Ahead of his 2017 Australian tour with Sings Sappy Songs, Cumming spoke with The Music about how prolific he is.

"It's really just a sort of childlike desire to pack as much in as possible," he said.

"I've got a good Scottish work ethic. I'm fascinated by so many things and want to give it all a go.

“If it sounds fascinating or terrifying, and I think 'I'll never be able to do it,' that's the biggest lure to me. If it sounds too easy, I'm like, 'naaaa.'"

Tickets for the Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age Australian tour go on sale next Wednesday, May 19, at 11am local time.
