TV and industry legends Ian "Molly" Meldrum and Gavin Wood have reunited for a new podcast series paying tribute to the iconic Countdown show.
As Herald Sun reports, the podcast will feature guests who appeared on Countdown and reflect on the impact the ABC show had on the local music scene.
Having recently relocated back to Australia from the US, Wood, who co-hosted Countdown with Meldrum between 1980-1987, launched the series on the weekend with special guest and Aussie favourite, Daryl Braithwaite.

Other names confirmed to appear on future episodes include Kate Ceberano, Russell Morris, Deborah Conway, Daryl Braithwaite, Leo Sayer, Brian Cadd, John Paul Young, Marcia Hines, Brian Mannix and Glenn Shorrock.
Speaking to The Music in 2018, Meldrum said he believes a revival of Countdown will happen.
"I think it’ll eventually happen and it has to be in that [original] Countdown timeslot with all young people hosting it, looking after it,” he said.
“There’s so much young talent around this country and they should do a show like that. The old Countdown timeslot would be absolutely perfect for it.
“I think that’s what’s missing from the music scene at the moment – we don’t have a definitive show that can really focus on all this.”
