Just months after closing its doors, it has been announced that beloved Brisbane venue, Lefty's Music Hall, will reopen next month.

The historic Caxton Street space will open its doors under new management, Hallmark Group Australia, in late February, promising "an international live music line-up".

"Everyone has a story at Lefty's; it has so much history within its walls and we wanted to be a part of preserving that, we look forward to bringing Lefty's back to life," Group Marketing Manager Tammy Wood said.

"From the live music to the whiskey apples, it's the overall theme and experience people want to recapture over and over.

"We're excited to re-create and re-energise what everyone loved about Lefty's and more. The entertainment is what makes this venue one of a kind."

Hallmark Group Australia General Manager Cade Hopman has promised Lefty's will bring back Americana rock from both local and international talent.

"Lefty's will bring back the people that love to sit back, take in the atmosphere and dance until the early hours of the morning, Hopman said.

"Everyone wants to have an experience they can live on in their mind and in their heart.

"It's important to us to maintain the iconic and authentic experiences intrinsically linked to the Lefty's brand - the live entertainment, the Americana eats and the Whiskey Apples heavily ruling the bar - that's what will reignite the nightlife on the iconic Brisbane strip we knew so well."

Lefty’s, also known as Baroona Hall, closed without warning in November with reports that the venue allegedly owed more than $170,000 to creditors including musicians, security guards and consultants.

Baroona Hall was constructed in 1884 by Richard Gailey for the United Brothers Lodge of the Order of Oddfellows. Used to manufacture clothes and military uniforms during World War I, it became known as Baroona Hall in 1928 and was a centre of local Labor Party activity.

The hall was an important live music venue in the late ‘70s and '80s hosting punk gigs by the likes of The Leftovers, The Survivors, Xero and Razar, before it became strip club The Velvet Cigar and finally Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall in 2014.
