Indie folk legends Bon Iver will return to Australia next year in support of their fourth studio LP, i,i.

Confirmed as the first artist on the 2020 Dark Mofo line-up, the solo project from Justin Vernon will start the Aussie run in Hobart before taking on Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth throughout June.

The appearance at Mona’s annual winter festival will also mark Bon Iver’s first-ever Tasmanian show.

On i,i, The Music’s Lauren Baxter noted: “No matter the axial tilt, Vernon has charted new territory as Bon Iver, and as his cult following would attest, he has mastered it.”

“It feels very much like the most adult record, the most complete,” Vernon said of i,i.

“It feels like when you get through all this life, when the sun starts to set, and what happens is you start gaining perspective. And then you can put that perspective into more honest, generous work.”

Last week, Bon Iver released a music video for Naeem, their first official clip since 2012’s Beth/Rest.
