With his massive Australian tour set to kick off tomorrow night, Melbourne singer-songwriter Dan Sultan has announced his new album, Aviary Takes, will drop next month.
The March 15 release features acoustic and piano versions of fan favourites like Old Fitzroy, Kingdom and more, alongside three covers, including Michael Kiwanuka’s Love & Hate, the album’s lead single which is out today, and a version of Gillian Welch’s Look At Miss Ohio, which Sultan performed for us earlier this month.
“Aviary Takes has been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience,” Sultan said.
“I’ve been able to go over songs from my past catalogue and also record a few tunes from some of my favourite artists.
“It’s very stripped back and it’s the first time I’ve worked with the great and very talented Matt Redlich who produced the sessions.
“We had a great time making the album in the heart of Melbourne, at his Aviary Studios.”
