Oz Music Legend Mark Seymour Unveils New Album & National Tour Dates

Celebrated Aussie musician Mark Seymour has compiled a new retrospective full-length album celebrating 30 years of songwriting ahead of embarking on a six-date national tour from late June.

Roll Back The Stone 1985-2016 collects Seymour's best-known and best-loved works — yes, including Hunters & Collectors favourites such as Throw Your Arms Around Me, When The River Runs Dry and the evergreen Holy Grail — re-recorded and reimagined with his current backing band, The Undertow.

The album was laid down over three nights in the Scrap Museum, at Richmond's Bakehouse Studios, and draws on the complementary talents of instrumentalists Cameron McKenzie (guitars), Peter Maslen (drums) and John Favaro (bass) to imbue Seymour's songs, no matter their physical age, with a renewed sense of purpose and immediacy.

As its name suggests, the 24-track release spans from 1985 to most recent album Mayday, painting a thorough picture of a life lived through song over the past three decades. The album will be released on Friday 24 March via Liberation Music, and pre-orders are available now.

The band hit the road soon after, starting off with an all-ages outing at Hobart's Theatre Royal on Saturday 24 June, before heading to Brisbane (18+), Melbourne (all ages), Adelaide (18+, though under-18s can be accompanied by a guardian), Sydney (18+) and Perth (same deal as Adelaide), where Seymour and his band finish up on Saturday 26 August, at the Astor Theatre.

Frontier Members get first run at tickets, with a pre-sale running from 2pm AEDT on Tuesday 21 March through till the same time on Wednesday 22 March, or until the allocation runs out.

General-public tickets will go on sale the same day as the album — Friday 24 March — from 10am local time.
