If you noticed that the Independent Music Awards (AIR Awards) went a little AWOL in 2016, you're not alone. However, there's a very good reason for it and rest assured, the AIR Awards will be back in 2017.
The Australian Independent Record Labels Association have announced that they're moving their eligibility dates to align with the calendar year, meaning in the first year (and for the 2017 AIR Awards), the eligibility period is slightly longer to make up for the extra few months.
The eligibility period now runs from 1 August 2015 to 31 December 2016, with nominations still open until 31 January 2017.
The industry body have yet to announce the date of the 2017 AIR Awards, but with the last event held on 22 October 2015, we are expecting a date for the next event to be announced shortly.
