THE BIG PINEAPPLE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Line-up announced!

The Sunshine Coast's Iconic Big Pineapple is set to play host to one almighty music festival on the 20th of April 2013, packed full of some Australia's and New Zealand's hottest acts. Its idyllic location and much loved history has set the scene for something very special as festival goers from around Australia get set to converge on this beautiful part of the world.

Festival co-Director, Mark Pico said, "We are thrilled to welcome Birds of Tokyo as the headliner for TBPMF 2013 who are currently putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated fourth studio album, which will be released just in time for TBPMF". Following two acclaimed albums, the indie band's self-titled third studio release spent over eight months in the Australian Top 20 and was certified double platinum. It also picked up an ARIA Award for Best Rock Album in 2010. Early in 2011 the band's anthemic breakthrough hit 'Plans' ranked #4 in Triple J's Hottest 100 while the follow-up single, 'Wild At Heart' reached #1 on the country's National Airplay Chart and won the band an APRA Award. BIRDS OF TOKYO also received the publicly voted Rolling Stone Readers Choice Award and ARIA Award for Most Popular Australian Artist. The band have been on a journey of exploration and reinvention, and with the first tastes on offer (This Fire EP) already racing up the charts and we can't wait to welcome Birds of Tokyo to TBPMF.

Aussie rock legends Grinspoon, whose seventh album Black Rabbits recently debuted at number 8 on the National Charts, are also on board. The Grinners have a string of hits and high charting albums spanning from 1995 to 2012 and have also won a coveted Aria for 'Best Rock Album' in 2005.

After seeing Regurgitator pack out the 1200 capacity Brisbane Venue Hi-Fi two nights in a row recently and completely blow the capacity crowd away with an awe-inspiring two hour performance, TBPMF festival Co-Director, Mark Pico, believes the Gurge are still one of the hottest live acts in the country. With a career that spans seven albums, a handful of EPs and all kinds of crazy elements explored along their path, a path completely littered with great tunes and good times... not to mention the six Arias firmly hidden under their space suits, Regurgitator are set to deliver a truly memorable performance.

British India recently signed with Mushroom Music and released one of the hottest indie rock songs of the year in (I Can Make You Love Me). This has set the tone for their fourth album due to be released March, which is set to launch British India into the top echelon of current Australian bands. Their two previous albums, 'Thieves' 2008 and 'Avalanche' in 2010, both debuted in the ARIA Top 10.

New Zealand powerhouse Black Seeds are regarded as one of the best reggae acts on the planet, their legendary 8-piece live show brings raw energy and good vibes wherever it goes. They have countless sell-out New Zealand and Australasian tours behind them and regularly perform at many of Europe and North America's biggest festivals. They have two number 1 selling albums in NZ, which includes their latest (Dust and Dirt) in 2012.

Hermitude won the "Best Independent Dance/Electronica album" award at the 2012 Jagermeister AIR (Australian Independent Records Association) Awards for the album, Hyperparadise. Hermitude were also nominated for 2012 J Award Album of the year for Hyperparadise and have been nominated for two Aria awards in 2012. The Boys will headline the Bump Dance Hall stage.

The multi award winning Ash Grunwald, as one of Australia's finest live performers, has been deservedly credited with bringing blues and roots to a new generation. His blistering live sets on the festival circuit throughout Australia, Japan, Canada, America and Europe have had critics and fans raving about his unique blend of roots, blues, beats and a whole lotta groove.

Other acts appearing on the line-up include OKA, Bobby ALU, Kingswood, Sticky Fingers, Chance Waters, Dialectrix, Cheap Fakes, Andy Dub, The Leisure Bandits and many more.

"For a first up festival, we are absolutely stoked at the line-up we've been able to pull together. There's a healthy serving of Rock, Roots, Reggae and Electronica going on.

Brendan and I were really mindful of making this a festival that hopefully everyone could afford to come to and enjoy so we set the Early Bird price at $65.00 which should make a few people very happy", says festival co Director Mark Pico.

"We will also be giving away 100 double tickets to New Zealanders who are keen to jump on a plane and get amongst the festivities. We really want to help drive tourism on the Sunshine Coast and we feel these big events are a great way to help make this happen," says Festival Co-Director Brendan Weatherill.
