The evergreen Dinosaur Jr will perform a series of headline shows throughout March 2010 and will also take pole position at both the Golden Plains Festival in Meredith, Victoria, and also at the debut of Brisbane's Lost Weekend Festival.
Earlier this year Dinosaur Jr released Farm, their most critically lauded effort since 1988's breakthrough effort, Bug. Featuring all three original Dinosaur Jr members: J Mascis, Lou Barlow & Murph, Farm captures the energy of a band 20 years their junior backed by the superior songwriting skills of both Mascis and Barlow in what many believe to be one of the band's finest works and an early contender for album of the year.
Dinosaur Jr. set the standard for convulsive indie-rock guitar fireworks in the Eighties. Incredibly, the band's original lineup--guitarist J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph--hasn't lost a thunderous step. - ROLLING STONE
How Dinosaur Jr. came to be this good – arguably better than their late 80s/early 90s heyday – shall remain a glorious mystery. - NOW
Farm sounds like the best alt-rock album that 1993 forgot. - THE ONION
The solos are majestic and Barlow even contributes a couple of thumpers. Nobody does this better. - UNCUT
Not being content with releasing one of the stand out albums of the year, Dinosaur Jr also saw fit to release our pick for video of the year with Over it.
Pre-grunge, pre-indie, pre-nurock, Dinosaur Jr are their own musical island. Bring your earplugs and get with the programme next March. |
