A US band are alleging that The Masked Singer Australia has "stolen" their version of a cover of Billie Eilish's Bad Guy.

In a video posted to YouTube this week, two members from Phoenix-founded group Halocene - Bradley Amick and Addie Nicole - allege that Network Ten stole "note for note" their cover used by Kate Ceberano during its debut season.

“Here we learn that a multi-million dollar singing reality TV show… has stolen, note for note, beat for beat, our musical arrangement of Bad Guy,” Amick said.

"Regardless how they came across our version, someone with the music department had to go over the intricate details of our recording. There are things that aren't even present in the Billie Eilish version, which includes distinct chord changes... vocals and even the ad libs.

"There's no way it can be construed as just inspiration, it's virtually a carbon copy."

Amick also alleges in the 12-minute video that his arrangement of Bad Guy interpolates on one of Halocene's own songs, Why Wait?, and that can be heard in The Masked Singer cover.

"The Masked Singer Australia has now basically purposefully and willingly stolen our licensed recording of Bad Guy, but now they've also inadvertently stolen from my original song, Why Wait?" Amick said.

While Ceberano's cover of Bad Guy went to air in late September, the music video for Halocene's cover was released in April.

Halocene have since launched a GoFundMe page to "raise money to afford international legal representation".
