The Smith Street Band have today announced the cancellation of their upcoming Australian headline tour, which was set to start in Melbourne next week.

The cancellation comes as part of a statement from frontman Wil Wagner and the band via their social media channels. See the post below.

The statement comes in response to accusations of Wagner emotionally and mentally abusing women believed to be his former partners in a series of leaked emails that surfaced on social media last month, detailing suicide threats and verbal abuse allegedly sent from Wagner.

Camp Cope singer Georgia Maq released a statement at the time detailing that she is one of the women the emails were sent to and that Wagner cited The Smith Street Band's last album was about a "toxic breakup" and "toxic ex-girlfriend" when promoting the record.

Brisbane band Sweater Curse and New Zealand's The Beths pulled out of supporting slots for the tour shortly after the initial statements were released last month.
