Some of Sydney's favourite bands, artists and comedians will take to the stage tonight for a special one-off concert in the fight to save NSW's live music scene.

Following the Don't Kill Live Music rally, which saw a turn-out of 20,000, the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) has announced names such as Gordi, I Know Leopard, Josh Pyke, Matt Okine, Tom Ballard and Mel Buttle for the show at Metro Theatre.

“The state of our night time economy has rapidly become a top line issue in the NSW election," NTIA Chair Michael Rodrigues said.

“Sydney and NSW's night life is slowly being strangled by endless red tape. 176 venues gone already and 100's more under pressure.

Rodrigues said the concert will also give punters the opportunity to learn about the policies and commitments of the major parties leading into the NSW state election, which takes place on 23 March.

“It's time for Sydney to wake up. If we don't act now our city will be a culture-less palliative care facility in 10 years. I won’t accept that as an outcome for my kids. I urge government to have a good hard look at the bureaucratic mess on its hands, appoint a night-time minister and fix it."

It comes a week after it was announced some of the operators of the festivals named on the Government's "high risk" list, will take legal action in the coming weeks.
