The demolition of Sydney’s Allianz Stadium could be delayed if a new bid from the Australian Labor Party is successful.

As SMH reports, NSW Labor leader Michael Daley is urging the City of Sydney, Randwick, Woollahra and Waverley councils to take legal action against the State Government on advice from a senior planning lawyer, following revelations that spectator seats finding their way from Allianz Stadium to new venues are flammable.

"It talks about hazardous materials, the potential for carcinogenic material, to be under the ground here [at Moore Park] and being disturbed during the demolition," Daley told SMH.

Michael Buble’s concert at Allianz Stadium in October was the last at the Moore Park entertainment venue, with the State Government intending to demolish the current structure to build a stadium with a proposed capacity of 45,000.

The demolition is expected to begin next month.
