Missy Higgins Soars Into ARIA Charts With 'The Special Ones'

It's officially December (cue obligatory, 'Where has the year gone?!) and Christmas albums are slowly but surely moving up the ARIA Albums chart, but the top end of the list is still dominated by film soundtracks. 

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's A Star Is Born has taken out top spot for the sixth straight week and Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, has charted at #2.

Meanwhile, Missy Higgins has debuted at #7 with her greatest hits album The Special Ones after the Missy Higgins & Friends Live special as part of this year's Ausmusic Month festivities aired on ABC.

Michael Bublé's new record Love drops to #4 but his Christmas album leads the holiday surge and jumps up to #9. However as history shows, it could only be a matter of time before the Canadian crooner's festive LP returns to top spot.

Other albums debuting on the chart this week include Rita Ora's Phoenix (#15) after the UK pop icon performed at this week's ARIA Awards. The ARIA love continues as Amy Shark also returns to the top end (#12) with Love Monster after picking up Best Pop Release and Best Album. 

Over on the Singles chart, Ariana Grande has held onto top spot for a third week with Thank U, Next, beating out A Star Is Born single, Shallow, at #2. The video for Thank U, Next premiered earlier today and at the time of writing has already amassed close to 20 million views, including a feature from Australia's own Troye Sivan.

As was the case last week, a string of Queen tracks remain in the top 100 thanks to the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, including Bohemian Rhapsody (#20), Another One Bites The Dust (#41), Somebody To Love (#51), Don’t Stop Me Now (#59), We Are The Champions (#61), Under Pressure (#69), We Will Rock You (#86) and Killer Queen (#87).
