Beloved Melbourne live music venue, Reverence Hotel, has today announced it will be closing in 2019.

In a statement posted to Facebook today, venue owners confirmed the last day of trading is planned for 2 March.

"We haven’t managed to secure another lease on the pub and have been operating on a month-to-month basis," the post reads.

"Without a lease or any certainty for a home, we are unable to plan long term and have had to stop investing back into the venue. Looking back we are really proud of our achievements, the community that has congregated, and the memories that have been made are immense. What we’ve created here has far surpassed our expectations!"

The Rev has played host to a slew of big names over the years including The Smith Street Band and The Bennies, while Press Club and Jeff Rosenstock are just a few of the acts scheduled to perform at the venue in the coming weeks.

Most recently, The Rev gained mainstream attention earlier this year after being hit with a cease and desist surrounding its 'Taco Tuesday' night.
