As usual this time of year, Christmas albums from years gone by are moving up the ARIA Albums chart, however the top end of the list is currently dominated by film soundtracks.
Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's A Star Is Born (widely tipped to be nominated for a few Oscars) has taken out top spot for the fifth straight week and Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (lead star Rami Malek is also predicted to get a Best Actor nod), has charted at #3.
Meanwhile, a re-recording of the 2017-released soundtrack for The Greatest Showman has debuted on the chart at #4, while the original LP has placed at #9.
Michael Bublé's new record Love has debuted at #2 and his Christmas album leads the holiday surge at #16. However as history shows, it could only be a matter of time before the Canadian crooner's festive LP returns to top spot.
More Christmas albums are making their way up the list as well, such as Human Nature's The Christmas Album (#28), David Campbell's Baby It's Christmas (#33) and John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John's Friends For Christmas (#37).
Other albums debuting on the chart this week include Mumford & Sons' Delta (#5), Little Mix's LM5 (#8), Mark Knopfler's Down The Road Wherever (#14), Mariah Carey's Caution (#15), Kip Moore's Room To Spare: The Acoustic Sessions (#18) and the Roy Orbison's Unchained Melodies: Roy Orbison & The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chris Cornell compilation LP's (#32 and #53).
Over on the Singles chart, Ariana Grande has held onto top spot for a second week with Thank You, Next, just beating out A Star Is Born single, Shallow, at #2.
As was the case last week, a string of Queen tracks feature in the top 100 thanks to the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, including Bohemian Rhapsody (#17), Another One Bites The Dust (#37), Somebody To Love (#47), We Are The Champions (#52), Don’t Stop Me Now (#53), Under Pressure (#59), We Will Rock You (#70) and Killer Queen (#77).
