WA all ages festival Hyperfest has cancelled next month’s event, citing “poor ticket sales as the primary factor”.
Last week, the long-running council-backed festival issued a statement, urging people to buy tickets and spread the word or they would be forced to cancel.
The annual volunteer-run festival was scheduled to take place in Midland on December 8 with headline sets from DZ Deathrays, Polish Club and more.
“This is not the end for Hyper, and we hope to regroup and present a new event for Western Australian young people in 2019,” reads a statement from organisers.
“We appreciate the overwhelming support we have gained since our original announcement; it has truly warmed our hearts in this tough time.
“Refunds will be automatically processed onto the credit card used for the original purchase within the next three business days. If you paid cash or EFTPOS at an outlet, please return to the same outlet to obtain a refund.”
Accompanying the announcement was a survey which will help them construct future events.
