A strong vocal presence and aggressive guitar populate the latest EP from Sydney outfit The Hots.

Now based in LA, vocalist Foxie Kelly and guitarist Ronnie Simmons (who cut his teeth playing for Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets and more) channelled a rebellious energy into their self-titled offering.

The four tracks pay homage to a classic Aussie rock sound, while still keeping things fresh.

It was with acclaimed producer Mark Opitz that they managed to capture their raw “in your face” live act on tape.

“Foxie Kelly reminds me so much of a young Chrissy Amphlett,” Opitz said.

“She can sing like Chrissy and even thinks like Chrissy.”
