There has been a backlash against ACT event Spilt Milk after US rapper YG's set at the festival over the weekend.

According to several punters, the rapper chanted "show us your titties" relentlessly throughout the performance. He allegedly also demanded that women show their breasts or he would refuse to continue the set. The rapper then criticised the body of one woman who chose to respond to his request.

The festival's official Facebook page was inundated with complaints. One punter wrote, "Just a quick message to say that YG was the literal scum of the festival. Can't believe that you are continuing to promote that piece of garbage."

"The worst excuse for a performance, and a downright catastrophic excuse for a human."

Festival organisers responded to the incident, posting a public statement on Facebook. "The comments made by YG were not ok. When this behaviour goes unchallenged, we are part of the problem, not the solution," it reads.

"We thank the courageous people who have voiced their feelings, so this disrespectful and predatory behaviour is exposed for what it is.

"We apologise that our stage was used in this manner and for not becoming aware sooner. YG's comments in no way reflect the values of Spilt Milk and contradict our goals of a safe and inclusive space for all attendees. We can not, and will never, control an artist’s performance, but we will continue to focus our bookings on forward thinking artists that share our values.

"To anyone who takes part in this discussion, please consider that many people experience this and other types of predatory behaviour daily. Take the time to listen, learn and be part of the change. If you do not take part respectfully your comments will be deleted."

This is not the first time YG has made headlines in Australia for this type of behaviour. When he was last in the country in 2017, the Sydney Morning Herald reported video had surfaced of the rapper allegedly asking female fans at an all-ages concert in Brisbane to take their tops off.

YG is due to perform in Sydney and Brisbane later in the week.

Spilt Milk has confirmed to The Music they will be making no further comment.
