Brisbane dream-pop prodigy Hatchie aka Harriette Pilbeam has been revealed as the recipient of the Mushroom Music Publishing recording grant for 2018.

The $10,000 grant, which was established in 2013, was created to help artists fund their recordings and will go towards Pilbeam's debut album.

"Congratulations Harriette," said Linda Bosidis, Head of A&R, "we can’t wait to hear your debut album."

"Australia’s polyphony queen, Harriette Pilbeam gets under your skin with her enchanting dream-pop; layered with harmonies, huge pop hooks and jangly guitars.  She is effortlessly cool and a mesmerising performer.”

Pilbeam said she was "very honoured to be the recipient of the 2018 MMP Recording Grant".

"This will allow me to finish my debut album, which I am currently recording with John Castle. Mushroom has been so supportive, I am very lucky to be able to work with them."

Pilbeam's debut EP Sugar & Spice was released in May to critical acclaim. She also went on to win the fourth round of the Levi's Music Prize earlier in the year.
