The year is 1963 and we're at Kellerman's Mountain Resort in Catskills, New York. Ok, not really, but next year Mushroom Group and Underground Cinema are transporting us back in time for Dirty Dancing: The Immersive Cinema Experience.
A brand new concept, the immersive cinema experience will launch in March 2019 in Sydney and Melbourne, with a life-size recreation of the famous resort for a one-of-a-kind screening of the flick under the stars.
But that's not all. With over 50 actors and dancers on site, there will be activity and craft classes, games, a golf range, the famous Kellerman’s Diner, dance lessons and of course, a talent show.
Matt Gudinski from Mushroom Group was super excited to bring the experience Down Under saying, “Internationally, these kinds of events have become a cultural phenomenon over the past decade and we’re confident Australian audiences will absolutely fall in love with the concept. It has been a long time in the works for us and we’re so excited to launch with a film as beloved as Dirty Dancing. Fans of the film will be blown away.”
Tamasein Holymna from Underground Cinema shared in the excitement. “Walking into Immersive Cinema will be like walking onto a living and breathing film set of Dirty Dancing, where guests get to become part of the world and see their favourite characters in real life," she said.
"It’s going to be huge – it’s going to blow your mind!”
Tickets for the experience go on sale Monday 19 November with pre sale running from 15 November.
