Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft could be the best or the worst interviewee for live TV... whichever way you want to look at it.
Appearing on BBC Breakfast TV this week, hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty had a big task on their hands trying to reel in the 47-year-old songwriter who was promoting his new solo album, Natural Rebel.
When asked why he was wearing sunglasses, Ashcroft responded, "Great respect for these guys as journalists, but I'm the only one on the couch who can wear sunglasses right now".
Following a clip of his new music video being screened, Ashcroft was seen laying down across the lounge, saying, "We've been on the night shift in the music industry for a while as you'd imagine.
"So another great thing about the glasses is, I can cover up the fact that I'm getting bit Nancy Reagan under here at the moment at this time of the day – seriously."
Check out the full interview above. Spoilers: you're probably gonna cringe.
