US DJ David Morales has been released by Japanese authorities after being arrested on drug possession allegations earlier this month.

The Grammy Award-winning producer was arrested in Japan after a customs officer reportedly "found five granules of MDMA, weighing 0.3 grams, in Morales' carry-on suitcase."

Morales was then detained at Fukoka airport in southern Japan and arrested on "suspicion of smuggling ecstasy."

As DJ Mag reports, Morales has been released by authorities without charge.

"We’re delighted to confirm that David Morales has been released without charge," a statement posted on Morales' Facebook page by his management reads.

"David is well and has asked that we pass on his love and gratitude to all those who have shown their support. We will not be making any further comment."
