Australian music icon Paul Kelly has claimed another #1 debut on the ARIA Albums chart with his new record, Nature.

The top placing for Kelly marks back-to-back #1 records, with his acclaimed 2017 effort, Life Is Fine, also reaching first place in Australia.

Speaking with The Music ahead of Nature’s release, Kelly said hitting #1 “feels good of course”.

“It’s not really on my mind when I write songs and make records, because that’s kinda out of my control anyway,” he said.

“Songs sort of come at me and then I write them: I know some are going to be more popular than others, but I can’t even pick which ones they are.”

Also soaring into the top 5 are local rockers Hands Like Houses, with their fourth album, Anon, debuting at #4, just ahead of Australian country music singer Morgan EvansThings That We Drink To at #5, while Powderfinger’s Internationalist re-enters at #8 amidst 20th-anniversary celebrations.

Other debuts on the Albums chart come from Jess Glynne’s Always In Between (#18), Ella Mai’s self-titled LP (#19), Kurt Vile and Tom Morello.

Over on the Singles chart, George Ezra holds onto #1 with Shotgun as his Australian tour slowly approaches, while Kodak Black’s Travis Scott and Offset collab and Little Mix’s Nicki Minaj single also debut.
