The spotlight is on Australia's screen composers with the reveal of the 2018 Screen Music Award nominees today.

The awards, which are put on by APRA AMCOS and AGSCcelebrate music composition for documentaries, short films, children's television, advertising and soundtrack albums.

Matteo Zingales has picked up the most nominations with collaborator Antony Partos following closely behind. AGSC President and composer Caitlin Yeo has also received four nominations with Emily Wurramara also given the nod for the first time for track Grace Beside Me

Speaking about the awards, Yeo said, "While it is most certainly a celebration of our craft it is also an opportunity to gather together, debrief and learn from each other.

"This is now more important than ever. In our rapidly changing globalised industry, with tighter schedules and shrinking resources, the challenges we face in producing world-class scores are immense. If our industry is to survive and thrive then it will be, in part, through shared experiences such as these and by supporting and celebrating each other."

The award ceremony will be held next month in Sydney at the City Recital Hall hosted by Denise Scott
