A suspended New South Wales police officer has today admitted to indecently assaulting a woman at last year's Defqon 1 festival in Sydney.
As reported by The Daily Telegraph, 26-year-old Constable Mitchell James Willey was off duty and intoxicated when he grabbed the woman’s vagina after she walked out of a toilet block at the festival on 16 September 2017.
Willey was suspended with pay for the 13 months following the incident, while defence barrister Ben Clark has reportedly said in Penrith Local Court today that it is inevitable that Willey will be thrown out of the police force for "an absolute moment of madness."
"It was momentary, it was brief, it was on the outside of clothing," Clark said in the hearing.
"He obviously got carried away."
Willey was convicted and sentenced to a two year-year community corrections order after Magistrate Geoff Hyatt reportedly said he couldn't find Willey genuinely remorseful.
