It's a Newtown staple and this year the Newtown Festival has reached its 40th birthday. And they are certainly celebrating in style!
This year's event will see performances from local indie rock group Dappled Cities, who are joined on the bill by Dive Bell, Exhibitionist, Furnace & The Fundamentals, Georgia June, Georgia Mulligan, Jackie Brown Jr, The Kid Laroi, K.I.M (DJ set), Motherfunk, Nookie, Ollie Thorpe, Palms, Pirra and Planet, as well as a special spoken word performance from Peter Rogers.
“We’re thrilled to once again be a part of Newtown Festival, particularly in its 40th anniversary," said Nathan Farrell, from Nathan Farrell Entertainment. "It’s been an amazing 5 years for us programming the event and we take great pride in not only presenting an amazing show for our community but also being a part of it day to day as a proud Newtown based business for almost 15 years.”
In addition to the stellar musical line-up, there's also the annual dog show, the Better Read Than Dead Writer's Tent which brings together a program of some of Australia's leading writers, free yoga, dance and creative workshops throughout the day, plus a whole lot of delicious food stalls and more.
Newtown Festival raises much needed funds for the Newtown Community Centre and patrons are asked to make a contribution of $5 to attend the festival. Anyone who contributes $10 or more will receive a Newtown Festival reusable water bottle.
The 2018 event will take place at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park on Sunday 11 November from 9.30am; check out theGuide below for more info.
