Renowned music filmmaker, radio presenter and DJ Don Letts has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for WAMCon this November.
The influential reggae and punk figure burst onto the scene in the ‘70s as a DJ at iconic punk club The Roxy, and he’s since worked with Sex Pistols, Bob Marley and more recently Paul McCartney while also hosting weekly show Culture Clash Radio on BBC 6 Music.
Letts will join an already stacked conference bill – featuring talent from triple j, Chugg Entertainment, Bandcamp and more - at the State Theatre Centre of WA from 2 – 3 November.
The latest speaker news is also accompanied by a massive announcement for WAMFest live, with the festival confirming another 116 local artists for the Saturday festivities.
WAM Song of the Year 2018 winners JFK, Feels, Figurehead and Farraday’s Cage are among the additions, alongside recent BIGSOUND buzz acts Kaitlin Keegan, Demon Days and many, many more.
“This year’s WAMFest Live line-up is a true testament to the phenomenal talent growing in WA,” live co-coordinator Mark Neal said.
“We were absolutely blown away by the quality of applications this year and can’t wait for punters to uncover more of the musical gems hiding in our own backyard.”
The huge live program will take over more than 17 stages throughout Northbridge.
Head to the WAM website for more details and tickets.
