Music icon Paul McCartney is the clear favourite to take out top spot on the ARIA Albums chart this weekend with his new record, Egypt Station, but there is a glimmer of hope for one particular Aussie surf rock band.

According to midweek figures, The Beatles legend's 18th solo LP is set to debut in the top three and should compete for #1 against Eminem's Kamikaze, while Byron Bay's Skegss debut effort, My Own Mess, is primed for a top ten debut.

As has been the case many times before, the trio's predicted top ten finish could increase to a top five or three by the time the results roll in this Saturday.

Other album debuts this week include $uicideboy$' I Want To Die In New Orleans (top 20) and Lauren Daigle's Look Up Child (top 40).

Over on the Singles chart, Aussie songwriter Dean Lewis is on his way to five straight weeks on top with Be Alright, with the only new entry likely to crack the top 20 being Lil Pump & Kanye West's I Love It.

Expect to also see Imagine Dragon's Natural, Dynoro's In My Mind and Silk City & Dua Lipa's Electricity (featuring Diplo and Mark Ronson) all debut in the top 50.
