Network Ten's newly-announced variety TV show will feature live music performances when it airs in 2019.
A spokesperson for the network confirmed to The Music today that the Chris-Brown-and-Julia-Morris-hosted Chris & Julia's Sunday Night Takeaway (yes, based on UK's Saturday Night Takeaway) will include live sets.
Ten cannot reveal any of the acts as yet but are expected to do so closer to the air date, which is confirmed to premiere early next year.
“I absolutely love Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and can’t believe my luck that I get to stand alongside my beloved Docteur and host our very own local version of the show," Morris said.
“Takeaway is the ultimate combination of hilarious, exciting, heartwarming and completely nuts. The Docteur and I are a natural fit!”
Brown added: “This is such an exciting and dynamic show to be a part of. But best of all, it’s got a massive heart that will deliver such a huge hit of warmth into Australian lounge rooms. Just like Takeaway should.
“Julia and I have forged such a delightfully unique and fun friendship in our jungle treehouse so the thought of bringing that to an Australian studio that isn’t a major lightning hazard is incredibly exciting.”
It comes after Network Ten also confirmed that live music performances would be a regular feature on Rove McManus' Saturday Night should a full season be picked up in 2019 following the pilot's premiere last month.
