Sony Music Australia has unveiled an exciting new joint venture label with Evermore frontman/writer and producer Jon Hume and artist manager Karen Hume.
New Tribe Music was formed in an effort to bring “authentic and innovative artists to the forefront,” with Melbourne-based pop artist Kira Puru marking the label’s first signing.
“We have a long history together with many great successes, and their talent continues to prevail with their first signing, Kira Puru,” Sony Music Australia’s Denis Handlin said.
“New Tribe Music will be a new home for a diverse roster of talented Australian artists to be showcased to the world.”
Jon Hume added: “I couldn’t be more excited about having the chance to uncover and champion new artists under our own imprint, New Tribe Music, with Denis Handlin his amazing team at Sony Music.
“A huge focus for us is shining a light on the talent in Australia and delivering it to a global audience.”
Puru is set to release a self-titled EP via New Tribe Music on September 20.
“I’m honoured to be the first artist to sign to New Tribe Music. Jon and Karen are phenomenally passionate and hardworking people who foster fantastic art of the highest quality,” Puru said.
“With the additional support of Denis and the Sony Music family, I feel certain that this is a wonderful home for both me and my music, and I'm very excited about what we'll create together.”
