After the release of Stuart Coupe's Roadies – The Secret History of Australian Rock‘n’Roll, Chugg Entertainment and Support Act have just announced two events to celebrate the road crew world.
In Sydney at The Factory on 26 September and in Melbourne at Thornbury Theatre on 4 October, Coupe will sit down with some legends of the Australian road crew world to find out about life on the road.
Nicky Campbell and Ross Ferguson will join Coupe in Sydney and Howard Freeman and Geoff Lloyd will sit down in Melbourne, with the world's first female roadie, Tana Douglas speaking at both events.
In addition to the panels, the events will feature acoustic performance in Sydney from Richard Clapton & Dave Faulkner and Brad Shepherd from Hoodoo Gurus. Phil Manning will be performing in Melbourne with more acts still to be announced.
Net proceeds from the event will go towards the Support Act Roadies Fund, which is administered in association with ARCA – The Australian Road Crew Association.
Clive Miller, CEO of Support Act, thinks "roadies are the backbone of the Australian music industry".
"Like everyone else, we were excited to hear that their contribution to Australian music was being documented by Stuart. We are looking forward to re-living the highs and the lows, and of course, to raising funds for those that are doing it tough," he said.
