Organisation: Low Profile - Founder & CEO

How did you first become involved in the music business and how did you end up where you are today? My first job in the biz was working as a part-time assistant in the licensing department at Terrorbird! I then went on to run commercial licensing at Warner Bros Records and most recently was the head of Licensing & Strategic Marketing at Downtown Records before starting my own company!

What's been the biggest change in the music business you've seen over the past 12 months? I think the biggest question all companies should be asking themselves is how they can add value to what artists are already doing. It's becoming so easy for artists to release and promote music independently, so it's never been more important to provide a valuable service for artists.

What do you think will be the biggest issue affecting the music industry in the next 12 months and why? Integrating blockchain technology into all song metadata.

What advice would you give young practitioners in your area starting out today? Be curious, learn as much as you can from everyone you encounter (whether or not they are involved in the music industry), and of course figure out your passion and do whatever it takes to get to where you want to be.

What will you be primarily discussing during your appearance at the BIGSOUND conference and what are you hoping that people will be able to learn from your panel? I will primarily be talking about my experience in the sync licensing world why I've been successful in landing significant and meaningful syncs for my artists that change their entire career trajectory. I might also give a preview of the record label I'm launching in the fall. ;)

What do you personally hope to take away from your time at BIGSOUND? Learning! I have so much to learn always, and there are so many fabulous panellists and artists. Also discovering new artists and hopefully doing sync for some of them following BIGSOUND!

Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND and why? The artists that are already on my roster - Gabriella Cohen and Wax Chattels - for obvious reasons. Also stoked for Two People and Hachiku and so many others!

When and where is your panel? 6 Sep, The Judith Wright Centre, 3.45pm.
