Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND? Very excited to see Thornhill, Pinkish Blu, Sweater Curse and Slowly Slowly. All doing very exciting things with a fresh take within their respective genres.
In your career to date, what have been the key watershed moments? Two shows come to mind, supporting Polaris on their EP show quite some time ago and supporting our best friends Ambleside when they launched their EP. Both shows the response was so intense it brought a few of us to tears haha.
If you could give your younger self, starting out as a musician, a few words of wisdom, what would they be? Go get singing lessons earlier and pick up a goddamn instrument.
Why should people come and see you among the many amazing bands at BIGSOUND? We tap into a lot of different sounds and I think there is something for everyone from all walks of music to take away and enjoy.
What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? Anything I can pick up is something valuable. Excited to soak up as much as I can.
What do you identify as the most pressing issue impacting the Australian music industry at present? Gender equality is something in the spotlight at the moment, creating a culture within the music industry that allows for the inclusivity of femme/ non-binary identifying people is everyone's responsibility and it's very comforting to see a slow but sure change for the better.
What music trends do you think are dominating right now, and do you have any predictions for the coming year? I think genre-bending is very popular at the moment! Taking little parts from all styles of music and making it your own. A lot of young bands pushing boundaries and trying new and exciting things.
When and where is your BIGSOUND showcase? 4 Sep, Crowbar, 9.40pm; 6 Sep, 256 Wickham, 10.30pm.
