Sydney artist Gordi's call up on Troye Sivan's brand new record, Bloom, was met with a wave of excitement from local fans and Sivan says their track together is "one of my favourite moments on the entire album".

Appearing on the latest episode of The Music Podcast, the WA pop artist revealed that despite the Australian connection, Sivan only became aware of Gordi's music during a fateful flight back home from the US.

"I was on a Qantas flight and I fell asleep with the headphones on and it was like, Qantas radio or whatever, and I remember waking up from my sleep being like, 'Whose voice is in my ears right now?'" he recalled.

"And I didn't have internet so I was, like, trying to figure out what she was saying and write down lyrics so that I could Google it once I landed. That was probably a good year and a half ago, maybe two years ago…

"She was in LA and we were gonna write together, basically. I thought maybe we were just writing for me or maybe just writing for her, I didn't really know what was going on."

Would would eventuate is the song, Postcard; the only collaboration on Bloom other than Sivan's track with pop superstar, Ariana Grande, Dance To This.

"I asked [Gordi] if she would sing background vocals and the bridge on this song and it's, like, one of my favourite moments on the entire album," Sivan said.

"I feel like as soon as she starts to sing it, it's like the air gets sucked out of the room. She's just got the most beautiful voice and is such a good writer. I'm a big, big fan."

Sivan also confirmed on The Music Podcast that there are plans to bring his Bloom tour, which kicks off in the US later this month, to Australia and he is all for bringing Gordi on stage at the shows to perform Postcard.

"I would love that. I would really, really love that," he said.

"When I come play shows here, that'll be sick."
