According to the Recording Industry Association of America, The Eagles have overtaken Michael Jackson for the best-selling album of all time in the US.
As reported by Rolling Stone in the US, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 knocked Thriller from the top spot to #2 for the first time since Jackson's passing in 2009.
The greatest hits album has gone to 38x Platinum due to the association recently retroactively adding single sales and 'other factors' that were not initially included following a request from The Eagles' label.
In addition to the #1 spot, the recount has also seen The Eagles' Hotel California rise to 26x Platinum and hit the #3 position on the Recording Industry Association of America ranking.
Jackson's groundbreaking 1982 album is currently 33x Platinum in the US and last had its total sales figures calculated in 2017, which still sees the album as the worldwide best-seller.
