The man accused of murdering revered Perth DJ, Jaime Rodolpho Fernandez (aka DJ Suave), has been found not guilty in WA's Supreme Court on Tuesday.

According to PerthNow, the nightclub photographer, Victor Amaya, was acquitted of murder and manslaughter after Fernandez was found dead in his Tuart Hill apartment on 19 July in 2016.

Police believe the 41-year-old Chile-born DJ's body was discovered four days after his death, where he was found under a running shower with eight stab wounds to the chest and neck.

Amaya admitted in court that the was responsible for stabbing Fernandez, however he argued it was in self defence.

Amaya claimed that Fernandez pressured him into drug dealing as payback for losing an envelope that contained cocaine.

On 16 July, Amaya alleged he drove to Fernandez' apartment, who accused him of stealing clients which led to the violent exchange with the knife.

"I thought he was going to kill me," Amaya said.

"I was just trying to push it into him to try and stop him. I just wanted to stop him using the knife on me.”

Speaking outside of court after the verdict, Amaya's lawyer, Sutherlan Scudds, said, "There are never any winners in a case like this".
