After 35+ years with Melbourne's 3RRR FM, Stephen ‘The Ghost’ Walker has announce he'll be handing over the reigns of his Friday afternoon show to a new host.
Woody McDonald will now host the Friday afternoon show, dubbed The Cave as an honour to Walker's Skull Cave show.
"The Skull Cave is no more. Welcome to The Cave with your new host Woody. He has sworn an oath on my skull to continue the musical adventure, as the nemesis of mediocre radio everywhere. He won't work alone; I will continue to contribute on a random, irregular basis."
Fans have been fast to share their praise and thanks to Walker via 3RRR FM's Twitter page. You can listen to the full announcement here.
Thank you Ghost for introducing me to Neubauten and so many other wonderful bands - and congratulations Woody for the passing of the mantle!

The end of an era! I’ve been listening to The Ghost since the 80’s and he’s basically defined my musical taste. His legend will live on through Woody, a worthy recipient of his legacy

Long time listener. Heard some of the best, most unique & diverse music one could hear on the Skull Cave. I wish him well. Been a great ride over many decades.

Thank you Ghost. When I returned to Melburn in 1996 I immersed myself in your Friday evenings, getting a music education like no other for its depth & breadth. Even won the quiz once, sniping in on the last question about band names. Welcome to Woody too.
