A 10-day celebration of “the meeting of Japanese and Australian cultures”, Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival has unveiled a packed 2018 program.
This year’s event will run from 17 – 26 August at Auburn Botanic Gardens, kicking off with a massive Yozakura opening party featuring Japanese ABBA tribute band ABBAN alongside karaoke, sake, night-time Cherry Blossom viewing and more.
After seeing their “new favourite cover band” ABBAN at Japanese festival Fuju Rock, organisers had to bring them to Australia for the first time.
“ABBA is still alive in so many peoples heart and when we hear just a few bars of their songs, they just bring us into the time of our life,” ABBAN said.
In the days that follow, the festival will deliver a rich and jam-packing series of events that includes Hello Kitty, Sumo wrestlers, an amazing showcase of food, picturesque Japanese gardens, exhibitions and more.
