Founding member of Test Icicles, Sam Mehran has passed away aged 31. 

As reported by NME, Mehran's death was announced via social media yesterday, though a cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Mehran was a member of Test Icicles for their two-year tenure between 2004-2006, sharing guitar and vocal duties. Mehran started the band with fellow musician Rory Attwell before later being joined by Dev Hynes who now records under the Blood Orange moniker.

Following the disbandment in 2006, Mehran went on to produce for acts like Lethal Bizzle and Ssion. He also worked on other musical projects and under various aliases, including Katie Rush, 2 X Love, Outer Limits Recording, Sam Meringue and Matrix Metals.

Dubbed a 'dance-punk' group, at their peak Test Icicles were signed to Domino, and found success with their track Circle. Square. Triangle from their debut album, For Screening Purposes Only, produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford.
