Some of the country’s best rock musicians will come together for a Phil Emmanuel memorial concert in Brisbane next month, headed by his brother, Tommy, and a star-studded list of local guitar icons and musicians.
The legacy left behind by the guitar legend is nothing short of remarkable, after he set the benchmark for acoustic and electric guitar playing for more than 50 years, and so it’s not surprising the upcoming tribute concert to the legendary musician will be one for the ages.
The show will take place at The Tivoli on August 7, hosted by comedian Chris Franklin and featuring Tommy alongside Doug Parkinson, Graeme Connors, James Blundell, Normie Rowe, Mick Pealing (Stars), Peter Cupples (Stylus), Doc Span and The Voice’s Judah Kelly.
Other guitarists scheduled to appear throughout the night include Rex Goh (Air Supply), Mal Eastick (Stars), Tim Gaze (Tamam Shud, Ariel, Stevie Wright band), Phil Manning (Chain), Terry Murray (Fargone Beauties/MMM), Michael “China” Walker (John Paul Young & The Allstar Band), as well as Phil's daughter, Jesse.
Tommy will also take a quick break from shredding on the night to resume his role as The Fargone Beauties’ drummer during a reunion set.

“Circumstances did not permit a public memorial for Phil at the time, so after the dust had settled, [Phil's wife] Mandy asked me if I could help put something together that would be fitting to publicly honour him,” organiser China said.
“Once we started making enquiries about who might want to be part of this, the floodgates opened – everyone wanted to show the world what Phil meant to them, and to be part of the send-off from his musical family.”
All profits from the concert will go to Support Act Limited.
