The depth of Adelaide’s ever-growing music scene will once again be showcased this November at the 2018 SAM Awards, with the state’s music body, Music SA, opening entries today.
The fourth annual awards will celebrate the achievements of South Australian talent over the past 12 months, through the People’s Choice Awards, Industry Awards and Major Awards — the latter two voted by a judging panel of local and national industry peers.
Entries for the categories outlined below are now open via the SAM Awards website until 12 August, with voting for the People’s Choice Awards opening via theMusic.com.au shortly thereafter.
The winners will be unveiled at the 2018 awards ceremony on 8 November.
The awards this year see the removal of the Best Male and Best Female categories, to be replaced with Best Group and Best Solo Artist. Speaking about the exclusion, General Manager of Music SA Lisa Bishop said that, "We believe it is important not to vote on the basis of gender”.
“SA has a diverse pool of high quality, contemporary musicians at the top of their profession, who collaborate and perform together and are recognised by the industry and audiences as equals."
