Usually, music fans using Spotify’s free tier in Australia are met with a torrent of advertisements that can seriously kill your playlists vibe.
However, Spotify have just announced that from today they will be moving to an ‘Active Media’ experience which allows users to skip ads, with advertisers then only paying for completed listens/views.
In a global, first-of-its-kind technology, users will now receive an ad break consisting of targeted audio and video content that they can choose to engage with or skip. From this, users will be subject to a more personalised ad experience.
“At Spotify, we’re committed to delivering the best possible free user experience," Spotify AUNZ Head of Sales Andrea Ingham said.
“Active Media is a win-win for listeners and advertisers; listeners benefit from an improved experience, allowing them to choose which ads they want to engage with, and in turn, we can offer advertisers better cut through and ROI.”
