In news from the top end, 113 events have just been announced for the huge 2018 Darwin Festival.
Over 18 days this August (who needs to go to Edinburgh?), and to coincide with celebrations for 40 years of self-governance in the Northern Territory, Darwin will play host to the hottest live music, theatre, comedy, film, cabaret and circus performances. Hot damn.
In addition to the teaser announced earlier this year, the full program boasts Australia’s crown prince of comedy Joel Creasey, the always absurd Sam Simmons, indie darling Tia Gostelow, musical duo Electric Fields and the Shania Twain choir… that [does] impress me much.

Speaking about the magic of Darwin, Artistic Director, Felix Preval praised “the unique experiences, quirky characters and wondrous sights”.
“We welcomed record crowds at last year’s festival and 50% of shows sold out. The appetite for incredible entertainment is strong.”
