Following news that beloved Melbourne venue Chasers will reopen its doors to live music, party starters Northeast Party House have been announced as the first cab off the rank, launching Three Eight Six.

Following in the footsteps of previous performances in the late ‘80s and ‘90s from Sonic Youth, The Church, Hunters & Collectors and You Am I, Northeast Party House will break in the new “state-of-the-art” sound system, lighting rig and stage on 6 July.

The iconic Poof Doof will continue on Saturday nights, with the other six nights of the week primed for other events and live music.

"Chasers has a proud tradition of supporting contemporary music, and I enjoyed seeing many bands at its weekly rock night Outlaw Hard N Fast," Music Victoria CEO, Patrick Donovan, said.

"Even Mick Jagger turned up one night to check out the talent. This venue will fill one of the key missing pieces in the Victorian live music jigsaw puzzle."

While we can't guarantee we will see Mick and his moves at the launch, Northeast Party House will no doubt cut the ceremonious red ribbon with a blistering, high-energy set.

Tickets for the launch are on sale now; hit up theGuide for more details.
