A Perth YouTuber and EDM producer famous for remixing classic Disney songs has come under fire for shocking anti-gay comments he made on his channel.

In a now deleted video titled Why I Called My Channel Fagottron, DJ Pogo, aka Nick Bertke, said “gays are an abomination”.

“I’ve always had a very thorough dislike of homosexuals,” Bertke said.

Bertke reportedly released the video in 2016 around the Trump election and it recently resurfaced, with the YouTuber now stating it was a “satirical shitpost”.

“I have Asperger's and Bipolar disorder so my sense of humour and empathy for people is often very muddled,” Bertke said.

“The internet has taken the video very far out of context and proportion, but I am very sorry to the people who I the video has hurt or confused.”

Fans and gay activists have slammed Bertke for the initial video and follow-up response.

“It's just disgusting, and there is no way you can brush this off as a joke, if you say those words and they come out of your youth that is just unforgivable,” gay activist Graeme Watson told 9 News.

In 2015, Bertke came under fire for a video in which he criticised feminism; going on to later say it was a "social experiment".

Bertke is also currently banned from entering the US until 2021 after being incarcerated for three weeks in the country in 2011 for not obtaining the correct visa while touring.

The WA artist’s music has also appeared on popular conservative YouTube show Louder With Crowder.
