Adelaide's streets and venues are up for another exciting winter with Music SA today announcing that Umbrella: Winter City Sounds will be returning for another year.
The third run of the festival will see over 300 live music events take place in around 100 locations from 13-29 July.
Sconefest ("a tribute to local South Australian musicians of all ages" which features scones from the CWA), Southern Twang (an event that brings together the best of Americana) and Because of Her We Can (a "celebration of South Australia’s finest Aboriginal song-women during NAIDOC week") are just some of the many events taking place throughout the festival.
Showcasing event Scouted is returning for its second year, with unsigned acts to take to stages in four different venues. Scouted will run concurrently with this year's Indie-Con Australia conference and the AIR Awards.
Last year's Umbrella: Winter City Sounds saw around 50,000 people attend over the course of the event, and Premier Steven Marshall is happy to see the event return to Adelaide.
"The winter music festival is a fantastic platform for local artists to showcase their talent, and moreover, it continues to add carriage to Adelaide’s reputation as a leading UNESCO City of Music," said Premier Marshall.
The full program announcement is expected on 1 June; head to the Umbrella: Winter City Sounds website for more info.
