After becoming one of the most sought-after studios around the country, Melbourne’s critically acclaimed Sing Sing Recording Studios is teaming up with Box Hill Institute to open a new world-class recording facility, and to celebrate, they’re giving away studio time.

The new Box Hill Institute space will be dubbed to Sing Sing East and if you want to be one of the first artists to utilise the space, then you’ll want to get involved with their YouTube competition, which offers more than $4,200 worth of studio time with an engineer for the winner.

To enter, head over to Box Hill Institute’s website or Facebook page to register, then upload an original song to YouTube. The song that receives the most hits between June 1 – July 30 will win, with second and third place also scoring some studio time.

“Having this type of collaboration with Kaj Dahlstrom and Jude Colman [owners of Sing Sing], alongside our expert lecturers is going to put us at the forefront of music education,” Box Hill Institute Director of Music Ben Weisner said.

Box Hill Institute Music Sound and Audio Manager Matthew Voigt added: “Giving opportunities to home-grown artists and allowing them the platform to develop their unique sounds and record in a studio is invaluable.

“We are working closely with industry to develop our music studios and our students to give amazing outcomes and real job opportunities.”

Sing Sing East will house some of the best gear in the Southern Hemisphere.
