In support of their forthcoming debut EP, Electro House Wife, Aussie electro act The Ironing Maidens will embark on a tour throughout Queensland laundromats next month.
The duo will kick off the run in the Gold Coast, before moving on to play in Brisbane, Maroochydore, Bundaberg, Boyne Island, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
"We sampled irons, washing machines, sewing machines, anything domestic that had a cool sound and we used those sounds to build the tracks with the 1950s advertising samples to accentuate the messages of this music," The Ironing Maidens' Patty Bom said of the EP.
"We listen to a lot of old house music classics and being electronic music artists ourselves, researched the pioneering women in EMP, their stories, their careers and discovered their lack of acknowledgement. And then looking at our current social context, all the dots joined together to make a very clear picture of just how little has changed. We had to do our part for progress."
