Giving Spotify and Apple Music a run for their money, YouTube has revealed they will launch a new streaming service, YouTube Music, next week.

Going live next Wednesday, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Mexico and South Korea will be among the first to trial the new service.

Much like its rivals, YouTube will offer a free ad-supported version and a premium service, the latter of which costs $11.99 a month and will allow users to listen in the background and download without ads.

YouTube will roll out a new mobile app and desktop player for the service and will also offer exclusive remixes, live performances, covers and music videos.

YouTube’s video subscription service, YouTube Red, is also being rebranded to YouTube Premium.
